In the USA, a Hamper usually refers to a container for dirty laundry, a 'laundry hamper' in the UK this is normally called a 'Laundry Basket'
In the UK, a Hamper is generally a wicker basket filled with carefully selected food and wine items and given as a gift - traditionally at Christmas.
A hamper is also viewed as a high end Corporate Gift - and again, would be given at Christmas. |
